Two policemen were injured in anti-illegal drug operations on Wednesday in Sitio Sapa, Brgy. Magallon Cadre, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.
The subject of a buy bust operation identified as Jeffrey Cabato, alias Agi, managed to escape after shooting two policemen, who were among the Moises Padilla PNP operatives participating in the police operations.
PCapt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesman of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, yesterday said that two police officers, whose identities were withheld, are now in stable condition after treatment at the Queen of Mercy Hospital in Bacolod City.
The two police officers suffered gunshot injuries in the right leg and left foot, respectively.
The fleeing suspect left behind an estimated five grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P34,000, and its assorted paraphernalia, PMaj. Joevito Bose, Moises Padilla police chief, said in reports forwarded to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.
Catalogo disclosed that as of yesterday, the Moises Padilla police is still in pursuit of the suspect.
On the other hand, a 65-year-old laborer was arrested by the police on Wednesday, following a raid at his residence in Purok Acacia, Brgy Tapi, Kabankalan City, that yielded guns and ammunition.
The implementation of the search warrant issued by Judge Rodney Magbanua, through joint operations of the Kabankalan City police and 604th Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6, led to the confiscation of a Smith and Wesson .357 caliber revolver with six ammunition and a homemade 12-gauge shotgun with five ammunition, and a spent shell of a .30 caliber firearm.
Also nabbed was Dionesio Pamonel, 65, the subject of the search warrant, according to the Kabankalan police.*
