4,119 WV cops participate in absentee voting

The Police Regional Office 6 reported yesterday 4,119 personnel of the Police Regional Office 6 in Western Visayas participated in the 3-day Local Absentee Voting on April 27 to 29, with Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office personnel having the greatest number of registered voters exercising their right to suffrage.

The six voting centers located in the Police Provincial Offices of Negros Occidental, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo and Guimaras.

There were 1,655 NOCPPO personnel casted their votes in the 3-day LAV, followed by Iloilo PPO – 1,681; Aklan PPO – 311; Capiz PPO – 206 Antique PPO – 173; and 93 at Guimaras PPO.

Lt. Col. Arnel Solis, regional police spokesperson, yesterday said that the LAV turnout was 96.76 percent,while 3.4 percent or 138 PNP personnel, failed to cast their votes.

Comelec approved 4,257 PRO 6 personnel to avail of LAV, of which 4,119 managed to cast their votes.

PBrig. Gen. Flynn Dongbo, regional police director, in a statement, said that it will be advantageous for PNP personnel to participate in the LAV, in order to exercise their right to suffrage, as most of them will be deployed outside their respective areas on May 9 elections.*
