Six more self-confessed New People’s Army rebels surrendered to the 11th and 61st Infantry Battalions in Negros and Iloilo, respectively, according to reports of the Philippine Army.
Three of the six NPA rebels surrendered to the 11th Infantry Battalion in Negros Oriental. Two of them surrendered an M16 assault rifle and a caliber .45 pistol with ammunition.
The two former rebels, with aliases of Ka Ensoy/Renso, a vice squad leader of the dismantled South East Front, and Ka Clifford, who serves as the platoon finance logistic officer of SEF, gave themselves up to the 11IB, to reunite with their respective wives who surrendered ahead of them, according to 1Lt. Bernadith Campeon, 11IB Civil Military Operations chief.
One of the wives gave birth earlier this year at Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital in Dumaguete City.
Campeon disclosed that the husbands were convinced to surrender peacefully through repeated appeals by their wives via social media.
Campeon said they are now processing the enrolment of the former rebels to the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), so they can receive assistance.
The other Negrense rebel who surrendered, was identified through her alias, Ann, holds the position as medical officer of SEF.
Three other rebels also surrendered to the 61st Infantry Battalion in Miag-ao, Iloilo. All of them are members of the Puregold SYP Platoon of Komiteng Rehiyonal Panay Southern Front, a report from the 3rd Infantry Division said.*with PNA report
