COVID-19 remains deadly to some Negrenses, as the Provincial Incident Management Team (PIMT) logged nine deaths in Negros Occidental within a two-week period this month.
The increasing number of fatalities comes in the wake of the Malacañang order on the optional wearing of face masks in outdoor settings all over the country.
Negros Occidental also logged eight new cases on September 14, increasing COVID 19 cases in the province to 159, with 33 recoveries.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson continues to encourage Negrenses to wear face masks when riding public utility vehicles and in crowded outdoor areas, where the gap between people is shoulder to shoulder, such as concerts, among other activities.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang earlier said that those who succumbed to COVID-19 were mostly unvaccinated, with comorbidities.
Pandemic monitor OCTA Research reported yesterday that the easing of face mask rules in uncrowded outdoor spaces will not lead to a resurgence of COVID-19 infections.
BACOLOD FACE MASK EO
The Office of the City Mayor of Bacolod issued Executive Order No. 33 or “An Order Providing for the policy and guideline in wearing of face masks within the territorial jurisdiction of Bacolod City,” in response to the national mandate.
As enshrined in the Executive Order, the optional wearing of face masks is now allowed in open spaces and crowded outdoor areas with good ventilation, a press release from City Hall said.
Moreover, wearing of face masks will continue to be implemented in hospitals, medical facilities, indoor private or public establishments, including public transportations by land, air, or sea.
Individuals who are not fully vaccinated, senior citizens and immuno-compromised are highly encouraged to wear their face masks and observe health protocols.
Minimum public health standards such as physical distancing, frequent hand washing, avoidance in crowded areas will continue to be implemented, it adds.*
