Members of the Rotary Club of Bacolod Marapara, the Rotaract Club of Marapara, and Barangay 35 Council once again picked up mountains of trash at the Reclamation Area of Bacolod City Sunday.

This was the second activity in the clubs’ coastal clean-up drive that will see clean-up events in coastal areas over the next 12 months.

“If we hope to keep our oceans clean, it’s necessary to keep coastlines clean,” Rolando Corona, president of Marapara Rotary said in a press release.

“Not only is trash on our shorelines unsightly, it’s also unhealthy and a threat to marine life,” he added.

Corona said he hopes projects like the clubs’ clean-up will create more awareness of the environment and encourage others to join the fight against pollution, the press release added.*
