About 8,500 Bacolodnon affected by the pandemic, which include more than 1,000 drivers, have availed of a one-time cash assistance of P2,000 from the Bacolod City Government.
Pacita Tero, head of the City Social Services and Development, yesterday said the program is funded under the Aid to Individuals and Families in Crisis Situation in Time of Pandemic.
Since not all drivers could avail of the assistance due to limited funds, they tapped the president and officers of legit transport groups to help them identify the drivers who should avail of the one-time assistance of the city, she said.
Tero said that out of the 8,500 beneficiaries, only about 1,000 drivers can avail of the assistance. The rest are barbers, manicurists or beauticians whose livelihood had been affected during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today will be the last day of the payout since the local campaign will already start on March 25, she added.*
