In line with the 16th Sipalay City Tourism Month celebration, the City Tourism Office, in collaboration with the City Social Welfare and Development Office, organized a four-day mural painting event from September 9 to 12, at Sitio Dungga, Barangay Maricalum, in the city.

As part of “EMAGINA” arts program, the event was funded by the City Social Welfare and Development Office under its Gender and Development (GAD) Fund. The concepts for the mural painting were based on the advocacies for gender and development.

Eighteen skilled youth from the city participated in the event which had the sole purpose of beautifying dull public places within the city. Murals were painted by the creative artists with an aim to tell the community story, create a unique experience and admiration for art and the artist, and increase tourism in the city.

The event was supported by SP committee chairperson on Tourism and Women, Children and Family Welfare Councilor Ellaine Pearl Palma, with Councilor Rome Vargas.*
