Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. led the opening of the group art exhibition of visual artists from Cadiz City at Gallery G at Villa Geronca Building, Rosario-Amapola streets, Bacolod City Thursday.
Joining Escalante at the opening rites were US-based visual artist Hill Benitez and businessman Boy Geronca. The show will run until June 15.
Titled “Saganak” the show features the works of J.R. Ledesma, Warren Cabahug, Renmar Baring, Christiany Joy Lazaro, Rusty Quiatchon, and Kiddo Balquin.
Lazaro explained that the title “Saganak” was originally inspired from the newsletter of Cadiz City also titled Saganak which has two meanings – where the salt water of the ocean and fresh water of the river meet, or a windfall of blessings and abundance.
Escalante, meanwhile, thanked Gallery G, being ran by Bacolod artists, for giving the artists of Cadiz (Hibalag Group of Artists) the opportunity to showcase their artworks.
He also pointed out that the winner of the first Negros Occidental painting competition was from Cadiz City.*
