The Bacolod City government will no longer issue medical certificates for travel and will adopt the Safe, Swift and Smart Passage (S-PaSS) travel management system.
Emergency Operations Center executive director Em Ang said this is in accordance with the new guidelines set by the national Inter-Agency Task Force.
Under IATF Resolution 101 issued in February, CHOs were ordered not to issue medical certificates anymore for travel purposes.
The Department of Interior and Local Government said this is to ensure uniform travel protocols via land, air, or sea.
Aside from the non-issuance of travel authority, health certificates will no longer be required also.
In a memorandum issued recently, the EOC clarified that the non-issuance of medical certificates for travel will allow CHO personnel to attend to direct medical care visits and focus on the city’s Covid-19 vaccination program.
Developed by the Department of Science and Technology Region 6, the S-PaSS shall be institutionalized as the one-stop-shop application/communication for travelers, while The StaySafe.ph shall be utilized as the primary contact tracing system.
Acting City Health Officer, Dr. Edwin Miraflor Jr., said that online transactions in securing medical certificates will end on April 15.
