Barangay, SK officials take oath

Twenty-two of the 23 newly elected barangay captains, and all 23 newly elected Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons of E.B. Magalona in Negros Occidental, took their oath of office yesterday before Mayor Marvin Malacon, at the mass oath-taking ceremony held at the Municipal Building.

Malacon called on newly elected officials to become agents of positive change in their respective communities by demonstrating strong leadership and dedicated service.

“Prove to your constituents that they were right in choosing you as their new leaders by showing them that you have the heart to serve,” he stressed.

Witnessing the oath-taking were Vice Mayor Eric Matulac, Sangguniang Bayan Members Gilda Parcon, Edgardo Agravante Jr., Gelita Parcon, Isidro Gomed Jr., and Edgar Jun Agravante; Fr. Ernie Larida, parish priest of St. Joseph the Worker Parish; Atty. Pierra Fuentespina- Lamayo, head of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)- E. B. Magalona; Police Major Kenneth Jay Gratones, chief of police of the Municipal Police Station; Sonia Macapagal, congressional geographical coordinator of the Office of 3rd District Rep. Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez, Municipal Planning and Development Office head Engr. Erwin Poniado, Executive Assistant Debbie Ann Dioneo-Monte, and Private Secretary and Local Youth Development Officer Joel Antonio.

In a statement issued by the EB Magalona Public Information Office, Lamayo and Gratones assured the punong barangays and SK chairpersons, especially the first-termers, of the support and guidance of the DILG and the PNP, particularly in conducting trainings relative to their roles and functions as local officials.

VICTORIAS MASS OATH TAKING

Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez yesterday administered the mass oath taking of 416 newly-elected Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials of Victorias City, at the City Sports and Amusement Center.

Benitez, in his speech, urged the barangay and SK officials to ally with the Victorias City government in its shared vision for clean, efficient, and inclusive governance, stressing that they were first line of public service, and the frontliners of the local government unit.

He assured them that the city government would willingly assist the barangay and SK councils, as he expects quality performance from the officials.

A total of 26 punong barangays were newly-elected, along with 182 Sangguniang Barangay members, 26 Sangguniang Kabataan chairpersons, and over 182 Sangguniang Kabataan members.

Liga ng mga Barangay-Victorias City Chapter Vice President and Councilor Richard Julius Sablan delivered the opening message and encouraged his fellow newly-elected officials to unite as they deliver quality public service to their constituents. Liga ng mga Barangay-Victorias City Chapter President and Provincial Board Member Juvy Pepello capped the ceremony with her closing message and motivated the barangay and SK officials to deliver unparalleled public service through their promised platforms, projects, and activities.*
