Personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection Special Rescue Unit have been dispatched to La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, to help in the search for a missing minor, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management head Zeaphard Gerhart Caelian said yesterday.
The 5-year-old girl was believed to have been swept away by strong current on June 6 in Brgy. La Granja, La Carlota City, after she was left at the riverside by her mother, who went to fetch her other child.
Caelian said that deployment of the BFP rescue unit was made in response to the request for assistance of La Carlota City Mayor Rex Jalandoon from the provincial government. He said that there is a standing memorandum of agreement between the BFP regional office and the provincial government of Negros Occidental for the use of its special rescue unit for search and retrieval operations in the province.*
