A barangay tanod chief was shot and killed by an unidentified gunman on Friday evening at Purok Mabinuligon in Brgy. Camindangan, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.
Initial investigations of the Sipalay City police indicated that the 37-year-old victim went out from his sari-sari store to respond to the call of somebody, when he was shot, apparently without any reason at all.
The victim, whose identity was withheld by the police, was declared dead on arrival at the Merceditas Montilla Hospital in Sipalay City.
The alleged involvement of New People’s Army remnants in the fatal shooting of the victim, is being validated by the police.*
