The Cadiz City Pavilion experienced a significant downturn in sales during the weeklong Panaad Sa Negros Festival 2024 held at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

The festival, which ran from April 15 to 21, witnessed a notable decline of 46% in sales for the Cadiz Trade Fair, compared to the previous year.

Data revealed that the booth’s gross sales amounted to P958,994.50 in 2023, but plunged to P515,853 in 2024. This raised concerns among festival organizers and local authorities.

Supervising Development Cooperative Specialist Shen Villena, who served as the Technology and Livelihood Development Center (TLDC)/Fair Trade Coordinator, attributed the sales decline to various factors.

Villena pointed out that the heat index, inflationary pressures and prevailing poverty, contributed to the subdued consumer spending observed during the festival.

The decrease in sales has sparked discussions among stakeholders, prompting them to explore strategies to revitalize Cadiz City’s participation in future editions of the Panaad Sa Negros Festival.*
