Dengue-related deaths in Negros Occidental and highly-urbanized Bacolod City have risen to 24, as cases also increased further, according to a report of the Department of Health- Western Visayas.
Negros Occidental logged 235 new cases, bringing the total to 3,345 cases, for the period running from January 1 to August 6 this year, with the death toll now at 16.
Bacolod City now has 569 total cases, with eight deaths, DOH-WV report added.
Negros Occidental remains the region’s topnotcher in terms of dengue cases.
DOH also expects dengue cases in the region to hit 10,000, as cases climbed to 9,533, which is an increase of 572 percent compared to 1,481 cases during the same period last year. Total deaths are recorded at 54.*
