Yves Montecillo of RMN DYHB was elected president of the Negros Press Club for 2021-2022 during its annual assembly and election Saturday.
Montecillo garnered 69 votes over past president Rey Siason of Muews Radio, who got 46 votes.
Eljohn Castaño, manager of Radyo Bandera, won as vice president with 58 votes, against Daily Guardian correspondent Dolly Yasa, also a past president, who had 52.
Philippine News Agency Negros Bureau chief Nanette Guadalquiver got 59 votes for secretary over former NPC president and Visayan DAILY STAR senior reporter Chrysee Samillano, who received 46 votes.
Eden Aboso of Aksyon Radyo won over past president Jun Julita of DYRL as treasurer, 65-43, while Digicast Negros reporter Martian Muyco was elected auditor against past president Elsie Jolingan of Negros Daily Bulletin, 60-43 votes.
Merlinda Pedrosa of Sun.Star Bacolod, past presidents Boy Duran of Aksyon Radyo and Carla Cañet of Sun.Star Bacold, and Henry James Toga of Negros Daily Bulletin were elected members of the Board of Directors.
Montecillo said the implementation of programs in the club will depend on the quarantine status of Bacolod and Negros Occidental. However, he said that he would like to give emphasis on the welfare of senior citizen members of the NPC, that is the oldest press club in the country.*
