As local government units start to ease travel restrictions due to continuing improvement in the fight against COVID-19, the provincial government is now studying of granting requests to add more flights between Manila and Bacolod, disclosed Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday.
Lacson confirmed that there is an application from Cebu Pacific to increase its Manila-Bacolod-Manila flights.
At present, flights between Manila and the Bacolod-Silay Airport are limited at two flights per airline company per day, while flights between Mactan-Cebu and Bacolod-Silay Airport is one per airline per week.
“We will study that. And if it further improves, we will consider that,” Lacson said, apparently referring to the steady decline in numbers of COVID-19 active cases.
We will study when we will start doing it, giving additional flights, he stressed.
Lacson, however, said he cannot confirm yet if the Philippine Air Lines and Air Asia also filed similar requests for additional flights.*
