The New People’s Army Mt. Cansermon Command has issued a statement claiming responsibility for the death of a woman it accused as a military informant, on April 21 in Sitio Dug-anon, Brgy. Oringao, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

Rebel spokesman Ka Dionesio Magbuelas alleged that Myrna “En En” Bilando was engaged in spying activities as an intelligence asset of the 94th Infantry Battalion.

This will serve as a warning to all individuals, who may engage in counter revolutionary activities, Magbuelas said.

On the other hand, remnants of the NPA were also tagged as suspects behind the death of a farmer who was shot dead in front of his wife, on April 20 in Brgy. Lagaan, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

Initial police investigations indicated that the victim, a 54-year-old farmer, whose identity was withheld, and his wife, were cultivating their farm lot when the armed men arrived.

He succumbed to multiple gunshot injuries, according to the police.*
