An 80-year-old widow who succumbed to multiple hack injuries, was found dead on April 22 in Sitio Malusay, Brgy. Caradio-an, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
The lifeless body of the victim, whose identity was withheld by the police, was discovered by his son-in-law, near a fishpond.
As of press time, the Himamaylan police are still investigating the motive behind the hacking, and those behind the murder.
Meanwhile, a laborer and his companion were injured, as a result of an explosion on Monday at Purok Lumboy in Brgy. Oringao, Kabankalan City.
The victims, whose identities were also withheld by the police, were gathering the charcoal they were producing, when an explosion occurred.
After an initial treatment at the Lorenzo Zayco Memorial Hospital in Kabankalan City, they were transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, for further medication.*
