The Department of Health Western Visayas recorded 93 dengue cases, with one related fatality, during the first three weeks of 2023.
The fatality was reported to be a 7-year-old female child.
Negros Occidental remains in the top three of the six provinces in Region 6 and two highly urbanized cities, having the most number of dengue cases, at 93, followed by Aklan’s 57 and 54 in Iloilo.
All over Western Visayas, DOH 6 reported 326 dengue cases, from January 1 to 21.
Last year, Negros Occidental consistently topped the number of dengue cases among six provinces and two highly urbanized cities of Western Visayas.
Forty-nine percent of the dengue affected victims have ages from one to 10 years old.
The DOH WV Center for Health Development advised everyone to observe the 4S against dengue, consisting of Search and destroy, Seek early consultation, Self-protection and Support fogging in hotspot areas.
If there are no mosquitoes, there is no dengue, DOH6 stressed.*
