The seventh victim of summary executions by the New People’s Army in Negros Occidental, was a barangay tanod chief in Brgy. Camindangan, Sipalay City.

A statement issued on May 6 by the NPA Armando Sumayang Command, claimed responsibility for the killing of Donnie Baculi, a tanod chief of Brgy. Camindangan in Sipalay City, on Friday night.

Ka Andrea Guerrero also accused Baculi as a “secret” intelligence asset of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Initial investigations of the Sipalay City police indicated that the 37-year-old victim went out from his sari-sari store to respond to the call of somebody, when he was shot, apparently without any reason.

He was reported by the police to have been declared dead on arrival at the Merceditas Montilla Hospital in Sipalay City.

Guerrero alleged that Baculi was also a member of Peacemaker, a counter revolutionary organization created by the AFP and Philippine National Police.

The NPA spokesperson said they recovered a caliber .45 pistol and its ammunition, a radio handset, handcuffs, and identification cards from Baculi.

Baculi was the 7th victim of a series of summary executions carried out by the NPA in northern, central and southern Negros, since last month. Based on press statements from the rebel group, their victims were all accused as military informants.*
