BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Effective July 1, all the reshuffled Commission on Elections officials will return to their previous posts, disclosed Region 6 Comelec director Wilfredo Balisado yesterday.

Balisado said he will be returning to his previous position as COMELEC regional director of Zamboanga Peninsula or Region 9.

On the other hand, Dennis Ausan, who was reassigned to Basilan during the May 9 elections, is coming back to Western Visayas to re-assume his post as COMELEC regional director.

Acting provincial Comelec supervisor Roberto Salazar is going back to Aklan while Ian Lee Ananoria is also slated to return to Negros Occidental to reassume his post.

VOTERS REGISTRATION

The Commission on Election is giving new voters about 15 days to register, starting from July 4 to 23.

Region 6 Comelec director Atty Wilfredo Balisado disclosed that all Comelec offices will be open from Monday to Saturday to accommodate voters who want to register.

There will be no extension, he stressed.

Registrants must be 18-years-old on December 5 this year, and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voters must be 15-years-old on December 5, 2022.

While there are moves to reset the scheduled barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan elections scheduled for December this year, Balisado said they preparations are ongoing.

Based on the Omnibus Election Code, voter registration must be done four months prior to the election date, Balisado pointed out.*
