Personnel of the San Carlos city government inspected five food establishments Wednesday to ensure that health and safety measures against the coronavirus disease 2019 are being followed, its press release said.

The City Tourism Office spearheaded the inspection team, together with the law enforcement team and representatives from the local police.

Tourism operations officer I Jennifer Saballa said they monitor food establishments on a daily basis to make sure that recurring violations will be avoided and that minimum health standards, like the putting up of thermal scanner, foot bath, and hand sanitizers at the entrance, and social distancing between costumers, are being observed.

She added that the proper use of face masks and shields among food servers and counter attendants when taking orders, visibility of QR code for VAMOS app, and the operational capacity of each food establishment are also being checked.

Saballa also said that citation tickets will be issued to first-time violators while the City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will call the attention of recurring violators and might order the closure of erring businesses, the press release said.

The team will also inspect other food establishments that operate at night. Dr. Wilmer Yap, EOC commander, also urged the tourism staff to order food establishment operators to sanitize the tables and chairs after every customer’s use to avoid contamination from possible droplets.*
