The Special Weapons and Tactics troopers of the Silay City Police Station have been issued brand new firearms and life preservation equipment from the administration of Mayor Mark Golez.
Lt. Col. Robert Petate, officer-in-charge of the Silay CPS, said the additional firepower will further enhance their basic operational capabilities.
A total of P5.7 million worth of assorted guns and their accessories were turned over Wednesday by Golez to Petate, in the presence of the Silay SWAT operatives.
The guns purchased by the Silay City government included 10 AR-15 assault rifles, 10 XR-7 semi automatic shotguns, and 10 TISAS .45 caliber pistols, with magazines and ammunition.
Petate said ballistic helmets, plates and shields, battering rams, bullet proof vests, and accessories were also turned over. “This generous act of the local government of Silay is a manifestation of its full support to the PNP organization in its law enforcement and peace and order endeavors,” he added.*
