A resolution requesting the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Bacolod City Engineer’s Office (CEO) to provide adequate visible road signs and reflectorized barriers, and to clean up rubbles and other construction debris in all road works and road repairs in Bacolod City, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.
The resolution authored by Councilor Claudio Puentevella said that several major roads and streets of Bacolod City are under repair, construction, or in the process of installation of drainage systems.
There have been numerous complaints from motorists and concerned citizens that some road works have inadequate reflectorized road signs and barriers to warn motorists of the hazards imposed by the roadworks being undertaken, it said.
Several complaints from concerned citizens in regards to debris and rubble left by the road works and road construction pose a hazard for motorists and pedestrians which may cause road accidents, the resolution said.
The cleanup of construction debris and rubble, and the installation of reflectorized road signs and barriers may mitigate and prevent road accidents for the safety of the general public, it added.*
