Super centenarian Francisca Susano was laid to rest on December 5 in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, almost two weeks after she died.
Mayor Pedro Zayco led Kabankalanons in taking Susano, known as Lola Iska, to her final resting place.
Susano was 124 years old when she died in her sleep, her family said.
Zayco, who paid tribute the recognized oldest person in the Philippines, said that Lola Iska is a source of pride and inspiration to her fellow Kabankalanons.
Lola Iska was born on September 11, 1897 in Kabankalan City. She was considered as the Philippines oldest person.
Prior to her death, Senior Citizen Party-list Representative Rodolfo Ordanes filed House Resolution 2207 congratulating Susano and urging the House of Representatives to grant her P1 million as an incentive for being a supercentenarian.
Ordanes earlier said that Susano witnessed an important stage in the history of the Philippines over the past century since she is even older than the declaration of Philippine Independence from Spain.
Lola Iska had 14 children, with the eldest daughter aged 101 years old.
In 2015, Lola Francisca was one of the awardees under the Negros First Centenarian Act.*
