The police yesterday arrested a suspect in the brutal killing of a teacher at Purok Calong-Calong in Brgy. Singcang Airport, Bacolod City, almost two days after the commission of the crime in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
P/Major Joery Puerto, commander of Police Station 8, yesterday identified the arrested suspect as Delleon Del Rosario, a suspect in the killing of public senior high school teacher Jessica Ducay in Sitio Canipaan, Brgy. Banquerohan, Cadiz City on October 6.
Ducay, a 28 year old teacher of the Dr. Vicente F. Gustilo Memorial High School in Cadiz City, succumbed to stab wounds and other injuries.
The arrest of Del Rosario was made by the police after they were informed by the family of the victim on the location of the suspect in Brgy. Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City.
Ducay was bathed in her own blood when discovered inside her residence.
Police investigations showed that Ducay was alone when the suspect entered in her residence, stabbed her and hit her with a hammer.
Del Rosario, who fled from the crime scene, reportedly took the P79,000 in cash of the victim, according to the police.
Recovered from the scene of incident were a bladed weapon, two hammers, a cap and a face mask.
A day before he was arrested in Bacolod City, the family of Ducay offered P50,000 for the immediate arrest of Del Rosario, who was identified through the help of CCTV footage.*
