The first two-man show of twin brothers showcasing their talents in painting and poetry, opened at the Maya Art Space of Tippy’s Bistro at 10th-Lacson streets, Bacolod City on February 8, and will run for a month.
Titled “Beyond the Lines,” the show is held in celebration of National Arts Month and features the paintings of Arnel Villaceran and poems written by his twin brother Ariel, as a result of their interpretation of each other’s works or talents.
Guests of honor at the opening were Terence Dacles, co-owner of Tippy’s Bistro, and visual artists Ryn Paul Gonzales and Revo Yanson, a member of the Board of Directors of the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros.
The twins are natives of Bantayan Island, Cebu and are licensed professional teachers. Both are graduates of La Consolacion College-Bacolod where Ariel obtained a degree of Bachelor in Secondary Education Major in English; while Arnel graduated from Bachelor of Fine Arts Major in Advertising Arts from LCC’s School of Architecture, Fine Arts and Interior Design. They are also recipients of several awards.
Arnel is currently working as a layout artist and curatorial staff of The Negros Museum in Bacolod City. He is involved in several projects and initiatives of the Negros Cultural Foundation, The Performance Laboratory Inc., and Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP).
Ariel, on the other hand, was awarded Best English Teacher in 2020 and Most Outstanding English Teacher in 2021 by the MARIPOSA Foundation, and is currently pursuing a degree in Master of Arts Education majoring in English.*
