Seven former New People’s Army rebels that surrendered to the 62nd Infantry Battalion and police in December last year, availed of financial assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E CLIP), on April 11 in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
1Lt. Mary Liza Joy de Guzman, 62IB Civil Military Operations chief, disclosed that the seven former rebels got P10,000 each.
In a statement, Guihulngan City Mayor Filomeno Reyes told the former rebels “the NPA is not your comrades, you are their victim from their wrong ideology,” as he further stressed that his administration will always help them.
Many jobs and opportunities are waiting for you here in Guihulngan City, he also said.
De Guzman said that the 62IB leadership will continue its partnership, and support for the government’s initiative intended for the former rebels in bringing more programs and projects for the sustainment of peace and development in central Negros.*
