BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Former Rep. Alfredo Benitez said he is confident that the petition for his exclusion in the voters list of Bacolod City, will be rejected by the court.

Benitez, who declared his intention to run for mayor of Bacolod City, said in a press statement issued by his camp, that the Election Registration Board earlier approved his transfer of voter’s registration to Bacolod City.

The same petition means the same results, he claimed.

Benitez personally attended the hearing of the petition for his exclusion from the list of registered voters of Bacolod City on September 28, on the grounds that he is not a resident of Bacolod City.

In the petition, Hector Yula, Teodoro Abao and Jonah Tornea Abao—members of Grupo Progresibo—said the city’s Election Regulatory Board (ERB) gravely erred when it approved the application of Benitez to vote in Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City.*
