Two more Negrenses were arrested on February 28 for violation of the Comelec gun ban in cities of Silay and Bago City, Negros Occidental.
RM Marciano,36, was arrested by the police on Monday, after a brief chase when he tried to flee a checkpoint at Purok Mapalaron, Brgy. Alianza, Bago City.
The arrest of Marciano, who is a resident of Brgy. Don Jorge Araneta in Bago City, yielded an improvised 12-gauge shotgun with a live ammunition.
Policemen, who responded to a reported incident of indiscriminate firing, arrested Marlon Jimena, 46 in Hacienda Panaogao 1, Brgy. 4, Silay City.
The apprehension of Jimena was made after a barangay official reported an incident of illegal discharge of firearms that led to the arrest of Jimena.
A .38 caliber revolver with two live ammunition was recovered by the police from Jimena, who is now locked up in jail.
Since the start of the election period in January, more than 10 individuals were arrested by the police for violation of the Comelec gun ban in the province.*
