A Philippine Army general yesterday dismissed as “fake news,” claims of the New People’s Army that at least two Army soldiers died after they harassed a military outpost in Sitio Casingan, Brgy. Trinidad, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, on August 30.

Brig. Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, clarified that no troops were injured troops.

In a statement, Ka JB Regalado, spokesperson of the Leonardo Panaligan Command New People’s Army Central Negros Front, claimed of successful military operations against the 62IB Alpha Company detachment in the area, where he alleged to have killed Army soldiers.

Pasaporte said the NPA has been peddling “fake news” to prop up the morale of their members, following series of debacles they suffered from 62IB sustained military operations in central Negros that led to death of some its members, recovery of several high-powered firearms and surrender of many of their comrades.*
