BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The more than 6,000 job order workers employed by the previous administration of Bacolod City will be trimmed down to 2,700 next year, to compensate for the P300 million reduction of its National Tax Allotment in 2023, revealed yesterday by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.

An amount of P625 million has been earmarked for payment of job order workers this year, according to Benitez.

Because of NTA reduction, the mayor said he will only use P300 million for hiring JO workers next year.

Based on their review, Benitez said the reduction of job order workers will not affect City Hall offices, stressing that “it’s more of rationalizing it.”

“When we looked at the different departments and divisions, we don’t need that much,” he added

From a P2 billion share this year, Benitez said that Bacolod City will only receive P1.7 billion in 2023.

This also developed as Benitez announced that they will propose the annual budget of Bacolod City next year would remain at P3.2 billion.

“We have to make adjustments. It will be the same so we will not fall short of our budget. (The amount) is the same, but the priorities are different,” he added.*
