Good news for contract of service (COS) and job order (JO) workers of the Negros Occidental provincial government.

President Rodrigo Duterte yesterday authorized the grant of gratuity pay to COS and JO workers in the government.

Under Administrative Order No. 46, all COS and JO workers who have rendered services for at least four months are entitled to receive a one-time gratuity pay of not more than P5,000.

Among the eligible recipient of the gratuity pay are national government, state universities and colleges, government-owned or controlled corporations, and local water district employees.

There are about 1,300 COS and JO workers hired by the provincial government of Negros Occidental.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz disclosed on December 28 that the provincial government has already earmarked funds for the gratuity pay of P3,000 each for job order employees and contract of service workers, in case of approval for release.

On December 27, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Diaz led the distribution of 5-kilo rice and assorted foodstuff to each of the 1,300 job order and contract of service employees.*
