Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez is pushing for the voluntary wearing of face shield.

In an online program of Daily Tribune yesterday, Lopez said there has been proposals in the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) to make wearing of face shield voluntary.

He added that even President Rodrigo Duterte is in favor of not mandating the wearing of face shield.

But for now, despite the alert level system in Metro Manila was lowered to Level 2, Lopez said wearing of face shield remains mandatory in crowded and closed areas.

“Most of us have already absorbed that habit of practicing minimum health standards,” he said in Filipino.

Meanwhile, Lopez has welcomed the further lowering of alert level system in Metro Manila as this move will help businesses to recover and will bring back jobs for Filipinos.

Earlier, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Kendrick Chua estimated that PHP3.6 billion will be added to the economy and 16,000 jobs will return every week in shifting the alert level system in Metro Manila from Level 3 to Level 2.*PNA
