The arrest of three suspected remnants of the dismantled New People’s Army Northern Negros Front (NNF), including two minors, on April 25 in Sitio Humayan, Brgy. Pinowayan, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental, led to the confiscation of a cache of firearms and ammunition, according to the Philippine Army.
Nabbed were Jundel Alforque, 21, his 17-year-old brother, as well their 16-year-old first cousin, whose identities were withheld by authorities.
The Joint Law Enforcement Operation of the 1st Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company (NOCPMFC) and Army’s 79th Infantry Battalion also resulted in the seizure of a cache of firearms and ammunition, including a KG9 sub machine gun, a KG 45 sub machine gun, two caliber .45 pistols, three 12-gauge shotguns, a caliber .38 revolver, assorted magazines of firearms containing ammunition, as well as an ammunition box.
Initial police investigations indicated that the arrested rebel suspects were allegedly involved in a shooting incident on March 28 in Brgy. Pinowayan, Don Salvador Benedicto.
In a statement, Maj. Gen. Marion Sison, 3rd Infantry Division commander, lauded the collaborative efforts of the 79IB, 1st NOCPMFC that resulted in the capture of the rebel remnants.
While two of the arrested rebel suspects are minors, Sison said they should be held accountable for the crimes they committed.
“Their capture will bring justice to the victims of their illicit actions and other atrocities,” he stressed.*
