Members of the Election Registration Board (ERB) approved the application of 33 would-be voters from Barangay Bata, Bacolod City Thursday after the oppositor withdrew his opposition, Bacolod Election Officer Kathrina Caña said yesterday.
Caña said that after the ERB hearing, they will start cleansing their records of double registration where a voter has also records in other places, delete records of voters who are deceased, and those who have transferred to other towns and cities outside Bacolod City.
After they have cleansed their records, they will forward this to Comelec Manila, she said.
The Comelec Office in Bacolod will then start preparing for the clustering of precincts that will function during the elections, Caña said.
The ERB, which approves and disapproves applications of registrants, is composed of the election officer, Department of Education superintendent, and the City Civil Registrar.
Comelec records show that Bacolod City has a total of 294,330 registered voters as of April.*
