Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Alberto Nellas Jr. yesterday said that Councilor Donato Dumaguit may still file a motion for consideration, regarding his expulsion from the Sangguniang Bayan of La Castellana in Negros Occidental.
The expulsion of Dumaguit was recommended by the PLO as a form of a disciplinary action, which according to Nellas, is based on the provisions of the Local Government Code.
“It is his right,” Nellas said, referring to the MR.
Dumaguit was expelled by the La Castellana Sangguniang Bayan Council after incurring 14 consecutive absences from their regular sessions.
He was replaced by Kent Magnabe, who took his oath of office before Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson on March 18.
Dumaguit has been linked to an alleged police recruitment scam that victimized 47 aspiring police officers. He is currently facing multiple charges before the Negros Occidental Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.*
