The Department of Interior and Local Government designated Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer as acting governor of Negros Occidental from November 5 to 11, disclosed Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz yesterday.

In addition, Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko will serve as the acting vice governor, Diaz said.

This is because Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson will lead a 7-man team delegation for official business and meetings with officials from Darwin in Australia, in connection with the job placement and training programs of the provincial government in the area, he added.

The delegation is composed of Gov. Lacson; Provincial Tourism Officer Cheryl Decena; Tina Orbicido, head of the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology; Karen Dinsay, head of the Negros Occidental Scholarship Program; Provincial Information Officer Cha Cha Magallanes and Irene Bel Ploteña of the Provincial Administrator’s Office.

Diaz said that they will also conduct courtesy calls to different departments of tourism, education and disaster preparedness, as agreed previously during the visit to the province of Januario John Rivas, Philippine Consul General in Darwin, Australia. Further, they will also be looking into the condition of provincial government working students, as well as those who have completed their studies in the area.*
