The management of San Carlos City Hospital in Negros Occidental issued a stern warning of legal action against those spreading unverified information being posted on social media.

The warning was issued by the hospital management, in response to a social media post of a netizen that accused them of non-acceptance of a referred patient from Canlaon City Hospital, Negros Oriental.

Investigations conducted by the hospital management showed that its medical specialist advised the caller from Canlaon City Hospital to refer their patient to a tertiary hospital in cities of Bacolod or Dumaguete, since San Carlos City Hospital is a Level 1 hospital, which is not equipped to manage the referred case.

Hospital management said that the patient never reached its medical facility, contrary to claims.

While it understands these allegations sprung out of the emotions of the concerned family, the management, however, advised that if they have issues to be clarified, it is best to relay those through proper channels, such as writing them.

Hence, the public is being warned about posting any unverified information in social media that maligns them, or they may resort to legal action against them, acting hospital chief, Dr. Genevieve Montañon said.*
