Former Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia has been invited by British Ambassador Laure Beaufils and Neil Naughton to the birthday celebration and platinum jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth that will be held at the envoy’s residence at North Forbes Park, Makati City.

Leonardia, now a private citizen after serving as Bacolod City mayor for 18 years, said he accepted the invitation.

In 1997, when Prince Charles, the next in line to the throne, paid a courtesy visit to then President Fidel V. Ramos in Malacañang, Leonardia was also one of the two mayors invited as special guest to meet the monarch at the Palace.

The other local chief executive invited by President Ramos to join the event in Malacañang then was former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim.*
