A money lender was shot and killed in his house in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City, Tuesday night.
P/Col. Ariel Pico, Bacolod City Police Office spokesperson, identified the fatality as Joeffrey Parandas, 54, of Phase 1, Regent Pearl Homes DC1 Subdivision in the barangay.
Pico said Parandas died on the spot from a gunshot wound in the head.
Case investigator, P/MSgt. Raffy Calderon, told the DAILY STAR that three still unidentified suspects barged into Parandas’ house past 7 p.m. and ordered his companions to drop to the floor.
Two of the suspects then went into the room of Parandas and one of them shot him while he was eating, with a .45 caliber pistol, and fled, Calderon said.
He said that none of the victim’s companions were able to identify the suspects as one of them was wearing a bonnet while the other two had facemasks.
The four companions, including a minor, were left unhurt.
The killing of Parandas happened a week after probationer Noel Perraren was also shot and killed in Brgy. Pahanocoy, Bacolod, by riding-in-tandem suspects. The motives behind the two murders are still being investigated.*
