BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The digitized One Hospital System of Negros Occidental has catered to more than 1,300 Negrenses infected with the COVID-19 virus since its inception in July this year, according to Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz

Diaz also reported that about 5,806 residents from the different cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental, including residents of Bacolod City, were facilitated by the One Hospital Command System from July to October 12 this year.

The digitized system of the province has efficiently facilitated its inter-hospital Covid-19 response and prevented possible breakdown in hospital operations and capacity, he added.

Diaz also said that the OHS has reduced the waiting time of patients looking for hospitals by simply referring them to the appropriate district hospitals that can provide the level of care they require.

The OHS facilitated and coordinated the transport and patient pick-up arrangements and optimized the use of critical care services of every district hospital.

The system will then notify the receiving hospitals, wherein the latter will change the status of the patient from “incoming” to “arrive” in the system as soon as the patient arrives in the facility.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson has established the digital system to serve as the center of communications between referrals from one hospital to another and facilitates medical transport and patient pick-up arrangements.

The OHS also provides real-time data on the health system capacity, data analytics, risk communications and optimizes the use of critical care services for every hospital in Negros Occidental.

It can also receive referrals from the first responders like the Negros Occidental Emergency 911 and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office from the different cities and municipalities in the province.*
