A suspected member of the “Tonggo Group” involved in gunrunning activities in Negros Occidental, and Bacolod City, was arrested during an entrapment operation at Rizal Street in Barangay 26, Bacolod, at about 6:25 p.m. Wednesday.
Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Bacolod collared Mark Baldecasa, 43, of the barangay, with 58 pieces of boodle money, P100 in marked money, an Interodynamic Miami F.L. Model KG 99 caliber 9mm Luger, two magazine assemblies for KG 99 caliber .9mm Luger, a .22 caliber Smith and Wesson magnum revolver, and four live ammunition for 9mm, CIDG records show.
Chief Master Sgt. Ramiro Gocotano led the operatives, under the supervision of P/Capt. Reydian Corales, head of CIDG-Bacolod, during the entrapment operation against Baldecasa, for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Gocotano said Baldecasa failed to show documents proving that he is authorized to possess or sell firearms. The suspect was brought to the CIDG-Bacolod office and gun charges are being readied against him.*
