The Philippine flag is now flying half-mast at the Provincial Capitol Building in Bacolod City, in honor of the passing of Atty. Reynaldo P. Depasucat, who served as a board member of Negros Occidental for nine years.
A necrological service and a mass was offered at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall yesterday for Depasucat, a staunch advocate for the environment who had been the chairman of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan committee for Environment and Natural Resources for several years.
Rep. Emilio “Dino” Yulo III (5th district Negros Occ.) paid tribute to his former colleague, while Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz also spoke in behalf of Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson.
A copy of a resolution approved by the Sanguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental, which expressed their condolences to the late board member, was turned over by Board Member Jeffrey Tubola and Diaz to the family of Depasucat.
Another necrological service will be held today at the municipal building lobby of EB Magalona, Negros Occidental, where municipal officials led by Mayor Marvin Malacon will give tribute to Depasucat, who served as officer-in-charge and was later elected as the municipal mayor, from 1986 to 1998.
Saraviahanons are enjoined by the municipal government of EB Magalona to join in honoring and paying tribute to the remarkable life of Atty. Rey Depasucat, for his outstanding services as the town’s chief executive.
For more than 11 years as mayor and nine more years as a board member, Mayor Malacon said Atty. Depasucat, who had served as his godfather, steered the municipality and the Third District to continuing progress.
As a lawyer to the poor and a staunch advocate for the environment, Atty. Depasucat had made a meaningful impact to the lives of the Saraviahanon and the Negrenses, Malacon further said in a statement.
Depasucat will be laid to rest at 1 p.m. on May 7, at the Rolling Hills Memorial Park in Bacolod City, after a 9 a.m. mass at St. Joseph the Worker Parish in EB Magalona.*
