The Provincial DILG benchmark program dubbed “Negros S.A.F.E.T.Y. First!” was publicly launched in Barangay Fabrica, Sagay City, during the recent 2024 Tinabu-ay sa Taytay celebration, a press release from Project CARES said.

During the launch, DILG provincial director Teodora Sumagaysay accepted the #CommittoAction for #RoadSafety in a ceremonial handover of The Global Plan of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety (2021-2030), aimed at reducing road traffic crashes by at least 50 percent by 2030.

In a ceremonial handover, Global Alliance of NGOs all over the world are presenting to key government decision makers the Global Plan, which is considered the blueprint in achieving the target of 50 percent reduction by 2030, or even zero road traffic crash deaths in communities.

Sumagaysay has been especially identified by Project CARES as recipient of this global undertaking, believing in her impeccable leadership and for delivering her commitments in dedicated service to the LGUs in our province of Negros Occidental.

At the ceremonies attended by LGU officials of Sagay and the DepEd Sagay Division organizers of Tinabu-ay sa Taytay, and witnessed by multisectoral stakeholders and program partners of Project CARES – Sumagaysay delivered and signed her declaration of support which is a milestone for the Global Alliance NGOs member in the country, the start of a journey followed by accountability.*
