A security guard was reported by the police to have died on Thursday night, after being shot by still unidentified gunman at 23rd Lacson Street in Brgy. 5, Bacolod City.
The victim, identified by the police as Jofen Dequito, 42, of Hacienda Bernabe Dos, Brgy. Salvacion, Murcia, Negros Occidental, was reported to have been declared dead on arrival at a hospital in Bacolod City.
Dequito reportedly succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head.
The firearm issued to the victim was also nowhere to be found.
Meanwhile, a minor and two others were injured, in separate shooting incidents, also on March 2, in Cauayan and La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, respectively. Three suspects who managed to escape, have already been identified by the police.
On March 2, armed with an improvised shotgun, suspect Joey Loquinario, 21, barged into the house of a minor and shot him, at Sitio Taya-o in Brgy. Camalanda-an, Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
The minor, whose identity is being withheld by the police, was having lunch with other members of his family when he was allegedly shot by Loquinario, who immediately fled, after the shooting.
Joey and Carla Salmorin were also injured, after being shot by the suspects identified by the police as Anthony Flores and an alias Ronie, at Purok 8 in Brgy. La Granja, La Carlota City.
The shooting incident ensued after both victims figured in heated arguments with Flores and alias Ronie.
Joey was hit on the leg, while Carla sustained a gunshot injury on the left arm, according to the police.
The two suspects managed to escape before the arrival of policemen, who responded to the shooting incident.
An improvised homemade shotgun and a fired cartridge were recovered by the police at the scene of incident.*
