A sexagenarian woman died in what appeared to be a hit-and-run incident along Alijis-Murcia Road in Bacolod City, about 4:35 a.m. Saturday.
The victim was identified as Oliva Proceso, 69, of ECC Villas, Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod, Station 7 commander, P/Captain Elmer Bonilla, said yesterday.
Arlyn Agustin of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office was among those who responded to the incident and checked on the victim but she already had no pulse, the police said.
Police investigation showed that Proceso was crossing the street in front of the Bacolod Memorial Park when a rushing white vehicle sideswiped her.
Witnesses said the vehicle was a Toyota sedan but they failed to get the plate number because the area was not well-lighted, Bonilla said. The police is still trying to establish the identity of the driver of the vehicle as there were no closed-circuit television cameras near the area, he said.*
