The long wait finally is over.
S&R Membership Shopping yesterday opened to shoppers, following the inauguration ceremony led by its president, Anthony Sy, Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, BREDCO officials led John Alonte and Director Willy Au, Lucio and Susan Co, Johnny and Amado Uy, among others.
Sy yesterday said that the Bacolod S&R Membership Shopping store is the company’s 27th in the country.
S&R Membership Shopping is a chain of membership-only retail warehouse clubs in the Philippines.
Sy lauded Mayor Benitez for his dedication to fostering economic growth and enhancing the wellbeing of its residents, describing it as truly commendable.
“Your leadership exemplifies the spirit of pro-business and community service, and we are privileged to be part of a city that values and nurtures such principles,” Sy said in his speech.
The newly opened store in Bacolod City, employs 212 regular employees, many of them residents of the city.
Benitez said he is glad that some of the S&R employees are from Bacolod City, who were previously working in other S&R outlets and have been given a chance to come back to this highly urbanized city.
“That is exactly what we wanna do. We want to bring back our people to Bacolod City, so that they can work here,” the mayor said.
Describing the opening of S&R Membership Shopping in Bacolod City as a historic event, Benitez said “it makes Bacolod City so happy to have S&R.”
He stressed the entry of S&R Membership Shopping in Bacolod City, is “one of our driving forces in our economic development, which is consumer consumption.”
Benitez said he told Sy that Bacolod City is experiencing a tremendous growth, since job placements and positions availability is further increasing, noting that thousands job opportunities are available in job fairs, either every quarter or every two months of the year, because of the opportunities that coming and knocking in the door of Bacolod City.*
