The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod is requesting the City Legal Office, City Engineer’s Office and various concerned agencies to look into the alleged illegal port construction at the mouth of Sum-ag River in Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod City.

The resolution authored by Bacolod Councilor Jude Thaddeus Sayson also requested the CLO, CEO and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to report to the SP their findings 15 days from receipt of the resolution.

The Sum-ag River is the only navigable river in the City of Bacolod, it said.

It has come to the attention of the SP that there is an alleged port construction by a certain engineer Tacolod at the mouth of the Sum-g River which impedes the free flow of water and constricts the waterway of the said river, the resolution said.

There is, therefore, a need for the DENR, CLO, DPWH and CEO to look into the alleged illegal port construction at the mouth of the Sum-ag River in order to determine appropriate action, it added.*
