Taekwondo, ultimate frisbee tourney winners named

The winners of the 4th Pintaflores Invitational Taekwondo Championship and 3rd Pintados Ultimate Frisbee competition were awarded on November 13 at the San Carlos City Auditorium and SJRI Field Center Mall Grounds, respectively.

In the Taekwondo Championships Pomsae (forms), the San Carlos City team was declared the over-all champion with 41 gold medals, 24 silver, 21 bronze followed by Bais and Himamaylan cities as first and second runners- up, respectively.

Team Phikoma of Cadiz City with 63 gold medals, 63 silver and 37 bronze hailed as the over-all champion in the Kyurugi (sparring), while Kabankalan and Himamaylan cities settled in the second and third places.

Thirteen-year-old 1st Dan Black Belter Rea Jane Reyes of Himamaylan City and medalist of both Pomsae and Kyurugi motivated youngsters who wished to join the sports to train hard, be strong and always listen to the coach’s advice.

She also said joining the sports gave her the chance to participate in the national team in the coming year.

Meanwhile, in the 3rd Pintados Ultimate Frisbee, Whitehouse Ultimate Newbie from Guihulngan City was crowned champion followed by first runner-up JUNA from the Municipality of Jimalalud and second runner-up Ultimate Gagmatoys from Guihulngan City in the Mix Gender Category Pool A.

The Mascobados from Bacolod City managed to stay on top in the Mix Gender Category Pool B while Hammeroids from Dumaguete City and Ultimate Arangka from the Municipality of La Castellana were the first and second runners-up, respectively.

Pool A winners received trophies while Pool B front-runners received certificates.

On the other hand, John Thoter Balasabas of JUNA; Ultimate Gagmatoys’ Kian Blanco; Ultimate Arangka Team’s Elmo; Mascobados Team’ JM Situbal from Bacolod City; Whitehouse Ultimate’s Bao; Buzits Team Bayon from the Municipality of Sibulan and Hammeroids Team’s Nickerey Ferrer from Dumaguete City who got high score-block-assist for the whole tournament comprised the mythical 7 where they received medals and jerseys from Trident Sports Apparel.

Aldorajade Teofilo of Notsboi from Guihulngan City was also declared as the Most Valuable Player, receiving a medal and hooded jersey from the Ultimate Scammers of San Carlos City.*
